Chad has never been to Yosemite, so I decided it was time to show him what he was missing. I love to camp, but we have a friend who generously lets us stay at his beautiful vacation home in Yosemite West, so we took advantage of the opportunity this weekend. My dad, our neighbors, and their pup Skipper decided to join us.
We arrived late Friday night and got settled in. On Saturday morning we headed up to Glacier Point, this is a must do if you have not been before, the view of the valley is spectacular.
My dad, Chad, and I hiked the Four Mile Trail down to the valley floor where the neigbors had driven down to meet us for lunch. The Four Mile Trail would usually have some spectacular views of Yosemite Falls, but the water flow was low, due to minimal rain and snowfall this year. We still has a great time though!
After our hike we took a dip in the Merced river and browsed the Ansel Adams Gallery. I love to stop in to the gallery because I am a big fan of Ansel Adam's photography, but primarily I like to go in to peruse the Indian and local artists' jewelery section. So many pretty pieces in there.
On Sunday Chad and I hiked the Mist trail up to Vernal and Nevada Falls. There was still a bit of water in the falls so it was quite beautiful.
It is so nice to get out of town and spend some quality time with nature and my loved ones. Even though we spent most of our time hiking and and I returned sore, it still felt like a vacation. It definitely rejuvenated my soul and mental well-being. Altogether we has a fantastic time and I came back inspired and recharged!
